A cheap and convenient place to stay. Located on the Main Road in the centre of Arthur's Pass Village. A short walking distance from bus and train stops. Off-street parking is available.
There is a large day room with a woodburner fire and full kitchen facilities. Comfortable leather couches with intimate views from the large windows.
Rooms are centrally heated during the Winter months. Unlimited hot water for both bath and showers.
The bunk room sleeps eight people (sleeping bags required).
A Drying Room that operates during the ski season.
Six internet computers, and a Cat5 network cable for your laptop. No WiFi.
Adjacent to the Avalanche Peak Track, and close to five Ski fields (Temple Basin 3km is the nearest).
Our policy is to keep prices as low as possible. For this reason we do not clean daily. If you make an effort and leave The Sanctuary tidy when you check-out, then we will continue to keep prices low.
Due to the cost of heating fuel, Summer / Winter tariffs apply.

Generally, a refund for amounts under $30.00 will not be given, neither will refunds be given when cancellation within 48 hours of arrival.
We are a Licenced Transport Operator and during the ski season we run a Friday night bus from the City to Temple Basin, returning on Sunday evening.
Thoughout the year we typically make two returns trips to Arthur's Pass each week.

Arthur's Pass National Park
In 1929, Arthur's Pass National Park became the first national park to be established in New Zealand. Arthur's Pass village offers visitors access to its peaks, passes, glaciers and tarns, gorges, waterfalls and deep river valleys, forests and alpine meadows. Mountaineering and tramping (hiking) are popular activities, particularly the day hike to Avalanche Peak (find out more about walks in the area).
